2. Improving Headlines - Students will take Cornell Notes on guidelines they need to know and follow when writing headlines. Students will then apply that knowledge to the headline they submit today with their article.
3. Peer Editing Checklist - Students will use class time to complete the information at the top of the checklist prior to submitting it to the editor staff for review. Editor staff will review articles prior to class on Wednesday to prepare for one on one meetings with staff reporters.
4. Independent Work - By the end of the block, all students should turn in the peer-edited draft of their article (with headline) for Editor Staff review. Editor Staff may also work on 12 page ladder for October issue.

3. Article Format - Students will copy notes on Article Format. Students will use their own paper as they copy from Promethean Board. Topics include page format, heading, font, size, spacing, etc...

2. Status of Article for October Issue - Students will view a list of students who STILL HAVE NOT MET THE DEADLINE. Those who have not uploaded articles are encouraged to do so ASAP to minimize points lost on the assignment. At this point, it will be up to the Layout & Design staff to decide whether late articles will appear in the paper.
3. Journalism 2 & 3 - Students will work in pairs (and one trio) to begin layout and design for the October Issue. Mrs. Sanderlin, who is one of Landstown's Instructional Technology Specialists, will assist students as they work. All available articles, graphics, photographs, and captions have been uploaded to the appropriate folder on SharePoint.

Journalism 1 - After making sure all articles, photographs, graphics, captions, and photo credits have been uploaded to Edmodo, Journalism 1 students will complete Reporting Assignment #3 - Spotlight on Yourself. 3. Journalism 2 & 3 - Students will work in pairs (and one trio) to continue layout and design for the October issue. Mrs. Sanderlin, who is one of Landstown's Instructional Technology Specialists, will assist students as they work. All available articles, graphics, photographs, and captions have been uploaded to the appropriate folders on SharePoint. Students will take Cornell notes to identify the important elements of a news story and the difference between hard and soft news stories. Mrs. Sanderlin, who is one of Landstown's Instructional Technology Specialists, may assist students as they work. Students will then review the concepts of hard news vs. soft news using the SlideShare presentation. Using the iPads, students will visit pilotonline.com to scan headlines for Hampton Roads first then Virginia Beach. Students will identify which stories are not "hard news"?

(Consider features, sports, student view, editorials, poetry, LHS related categories.) Weigh the pros and cons of publishing students' names who are caught cheating.
