1. Welcome, Attendance, Morning Announcements
2. Lead Writing - Journalism I - Students will review the essential components of traditional summary leads. Students will self-assess and make changes to the leads they have for their articles due today.
3. Journalism I, II, and III - Students will go through the peer editing process for their articles. After making necessary changes, they will upload their first, peer-edited drafts on Edmodo.
4. Article Assignments - Students will meet with a member of the Editor Staff to give an update of their progress: research, interviews, effective headline, effective lead, edited first draft, photograph with caption and credit, graphic with citation, and upload to Edmodo. Typed first drafts are due by the end of the block TODAY! Turn in your peer editing checklist to Mrs. Clay for a classwork grade.

2. Journalism Journal #4 - Questions for Dr. Spence - Students will consider questions that the Co-Editors-in-Chief can ask Dr. Spence when they interview him on Tuesday, December 8th. Students will meet briefly with their go-to person on the Editor Staff to update the checklist, ask questions, and ask for feedback. Photographs with credits and captions as well as graphics with citations should be uploaded on Edmodo by the end of the block on Tuesday, December 8th.
4. Ladder Organization - The Editors-in-Chief (Jaelan & Sabrina) and the Layout & Design Editor (Alexandra) will organize the ladder and folders for the 2nd Quarter (January) issue.

Journalism II and III - Complete your 2-page layout and design spread by the end of the block on Friday. Please come in during your free blocks or after school if necessary to not only meet the deadline, but also to turn in the best pages possible.

- Students will take a 30-question quiz testing their knowledge of the First Amendment to the Constitution. As a class, we will discuss the questions which are particularly relevant to our high school journalism classroom.
- Students will study the original language of the First Amendment and translate each portion into language a modern journalist can truly understand.
Journalism I - Memorize the First Amendment for Friday (either the original wording or a translated version).

- Given a envelope of phrases, students will organize them into the correct wording of the First Amendment. Given an envelope of words, students will organize them into the correct wording of the First Amendment.

- Poll Question Assignment - Students will survey choose three questions related to the First Amendment (from the quiz or make up their own) to ask at least 10 people between today and Friday. They should record names, grades/ departments, and responses.

Journalism II and III - NONE, unless your 2-page layout and design spread is not complete and uploaded. Please come in during your free blocks or after school to complete your work.

- Students will create a list of questions they would like to ask the returning Journalism students on Tuesday: (including Brittany Niemeyer, Sarah Jones, Kylon Callaway, Alissa Thomas, Dani Luokkanen, Octavia Marshall, Megan Reed, and Portia Perkins.) Discuss among yourselves how we should organize our time with them: arrangement of classroom, question format, social time, etc.
- In pairs or small groups, students will practice reciting the First Amendment for about 10 minutes. They may use their study tools or simple copies of the First Amendment.
- Without notes or assistance, students will recall the exact wording of the First Amendment. First, they will try when given 8 open-ended lines. Collect all papers. Second, they will try when given 45 blanks with a few words filled in.
- When all students are finished with the written recitation, students will discuss why this is so hard or so easy to memorize. Discuss - If we forget the official wording and focus on the overall concept, what does the First Amendment protect/allow/limit?
- Given a list of questions related to the Freedom of Speech and Freedom of the Press, students will work alone or in pairs to choose any five to complete in writing. Use BYOD or laptop computers to access the information. The assignment sheet with each question hyperlinked is on Edmodo if they would like to use it.
Journalism I - Complete Freedom of Speech and Freedom of the Press responses.
