1. Welcome, Attendance
2. Vocabulary Set 1 - Word of the Day - tenacious - Students will take notes on the meaning, part of speech, various forms, etymology, usage, synonyms, antonyms, and context of the vocabulary word. For potential extra credit, students will create original sentences using the word and give them (or text them) to Mrs. Clay.
Review correct uses of the word reticent from Wednesday's class.
3. The Crucible by Arthur Miller - Students will turn in the Act II Study Guide of The Crucible for a quiz grade. Students will work in small groups to complete a quiz on Act II. Students will work independently and then in pairs to complete a Figurative Language and Style Analysis activity for Act II. Students will volunteer to read parts in Act III in class on Thursday. Feel free to access the audio recording on Edmodo.
Homework: Practice reading your parts for Act III of The Crucible. The study guide for Act III will be due on Monday.

4. Excerpt from DVD of movie The Crucible, starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Winona Ryder, and Joan Allen. Students will look for differences between the play and the movie and discuss which version is better (and why). On an exit ticket, students will record their thoughts on which changes were effective and which changes were not effective.

Students will compete in a Trivia Crack Kahoot for prizes.
4. 3A only - Spelling Bee - After reviewing commonly misspelled words in the English language, students will compete in writing and in verbal competition for the title of Best Speller.
