- Reporting Assignment #4 - Spotlight on an LHS Faculty or Staff Member - Given the list of spotlight questions, students will create a "one-pager" on the LHS faculty or staff member. This one-pager should be eye-catching, neat, colorful, and full of fun information. Students are encouraged to FILL the PAGE, leaving no original white space. Students must include at least one picture (but may include more than one) along with at least 10 question and answer combinations. Students may create it on paper or digitally, whichever they prefer, but it must be uploaded to Edmodo by the end of the block TODAY, November 2, 2015.

5. IT'S HERE! Students will read through the first quarter edition of The Talon. What are our strengths and weaknesses? Open discussion. Everyone is encouraged to take 5-10 copies of The Talon and hand-deliver to faculty and staff around the school.
6. Voices from the Field of Journalism - "Daryn Kagan - Making a Career out of Curiosity" - Students will read the short feature on Daryn Kagan on page 169. Students will take notes on the information, answer two questions at the end, explore her website, read a short article about her printed in the Huffington Post, and write a brief reflection of what they learn.

2. Journalism Journal #1 - Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook - Choose one or more of these social media apps to FIRST list facts and details and SECOND give opinions. After 8-10 minutes, students will share ideas, double-checking that facts and opinions are not mixed...and then turn in papers.

3. Journalism Journal #2 - Cell Phone Use and Abuse - As beneficial as cell phones are, they have a detrimental side as well. Considering either the positive or the negative, FIRST list facts and details and SECOND give opinions. After 8-10 minutes, students will share ideas, double-checking that facts and opinions are not mixed...and then turn in papers. Edmodo poll question: At what age did you have your own cell phone? Discuss responses. Before Monday's class, ask parents about their access to phones (type of phone in their house, if they had a phone in room or their own line) as a child and teenager.
4. Brainstorming for January Issue - Students will finish creating a master brainstorming list for the staff. Students will submit requests for TOP 4 choices for the Editor Staff to review and assign articles for the issue that will be published in the second quarter. 2. Extra Credit Interviews - Phones Then and Now
3. Current Event Assignment #3 for November - Students will review assignment requirements and options. Using laptop computers, students will begin searching for Current Event News Articles to present to the class on Friday. Students have the option of presenting in person or through a PowerPoint presentation uploaded through Edmodo.
4. Article Assignments - The Editor Staff will meet to review article assignments and doubletruck theme. The Editor Staff will let staff reporters know what their first assignment is for this issue. All staff should complete an Article Planning Sheet and submit it to the Editor Staff for feedback and then turn it in for approval to Mrs. Clay no later than the end of the block on Wednesday. Students will meet with a member of the Editor Staff on Tuesday, November 24th to give an update of their progress. Typed FIRST Drafts of articles are due on Wednesday, December 2nd.
